Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information daysleft.christmas (“we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and simple.

Who We Are

daysleft.christmas is a free Christmas countdown website. You can contact us at hello@daysleft.christmas or through our Contact page.

What We Collect

  • Basic visit data: Like most websites, our server and our content delivery network (such as Cloudflare) log your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. We use this to keep the site fast and safe.
  • Analytics: We may use Google Analytics (for example through Google Site Kit) to count visits and see which pages are popular. It uses cookies and collects data such as your device, rough location and pages viewed.
  • Contact form: When you send us a message, we collect your name, email, topic and message so we can reply.
  • Email reminders: If you sign up for Christmas reminders, we store your email address and the date you agreed.

What We Do Not Collect

Your time zone is detected in your own browser to set the countdown. It is not sent to or stored on our server. Countdown settings such as your name, snow or sound are saved only in your browser (local storage). We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

We use only the cookies we need: cookies that keep the site working and secure, and analytics cookies if analytics is turned on. If we ever show ads, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can learn more at Google’s ad policy page, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

How We Use Your Information

  • To run and improve the website.
  • To reply to your messages.
  • To send the reminder emails you asked for.
  • To protect the site from spam and abuse.

Children’s Privacy

Our countdown is family friendly, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The contact form and email signup are for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it. This follows the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Your Rights (GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA)

If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, and to object to how we use it. Our legal basis is your consent (email reminders) or our legitimate interest in running the site (logs and security).

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete it, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for money.

To use any of these rights, email hello@daysleft.christmas. We will reply within 30 days.

How Long We Keep Data

  • Contact messages: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Reminder emails: until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Server logs: usually 30 days or less.
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months.

Our pages link to other sites, like USPS, Royal Mail and NORAD. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them. If another website shows our embed widget, the widget loads from our site and our server sees a normal visit log. The website that shows the widget has its own privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top when we do.
